Ralph Moratz

Ralph Moratz, longtime Los Angeles, CA resident, was born on October 10, 1931 in Berlin, Germany to parents, Frank and Ruth Jungmann Moratz. He died on March 10, 2016 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 84 years. Ralph was raised in Germany until the age of 8 when he fled to France to live in an orphanage. Ralph later fled to New York on September 24, 1941 where he lived until joining the United States Air Force in November of 1949. He served until his honorable discharge in September of 1953. Ralph later moved to California where he lived until the last few weeks of his life when he moved to Oregon to be with his family. He worked as a computer programmer and spent most of his life working in the entertainment industry. Ralph enjoyed computers, astronomy, golf, bon odori dancing, games, and tinkering. He helped with history and information on the Bill Graham (Rock Promoter) exhibit.

He is survived by his daughters: Robin Barker, Hermiston, OR, & Ruth Moratz, California; sister: Virginia Moratz, Baltimore, Maryland; granddaughter: Angela, and great granddaughter: Ryan.

Ralph was preceded in death by his mother, and son: Gary Moratz.

A celebration gathering with military honors will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Spillway park, Umatilla, Oregon  .
